***This
is kind of long so if you want to skip to the thank you part at the end, go for it.***
I
posted the last 3 comics of 2009. I hope you enjoy them despite the sloppy drawing (I need to buy more ink & cardstock).
It's such a relief that 2009 is over.
My life is so different than it was two years ago,
when I started writing Weak Highlights regularly. 2009 marks the end of my Houston years (or does it? this year taught
me many clichés, “never say never” among them) so it seems appropriate to write this little reflective
thing now.
2009 has been a challenging year for me. Often I felt there were no good
choices to make and I was stuck, blindly going one way or another, becoming more confused as seemingly good choices soured
and bad choices sweetened, people shapeshifted, and regrets hounded me. I continue to believe that the worst years of one's
life may turn out to be the best because of what one can gain from bad experiences. I certainly hope this is true of 2009
but that remains to be seen.
2010 will be the third year of Weak Highlights.
I have no clue what the future holds—I'd say I'm more directionless than usual—but I do not intend to
stop drawing comics about my life anytime soon. Being a cartoon character makes my life better; drawing comics help me sort
things out and provides some relief when things are hard. I write in my journal almost every day, but certain things are
best expressed in comic form.
Please note that I do not plan on creating a paper version
of my comics for a few years. My comics look much better on paper but printing them costs money; people don't want to
pay for quality when they can get quantity online for free. That said, I plan to keep the 2009 archive available and create
a full 2008 archive. One day, I hope to print an annotated Weak Highlights anthology and by “one day”
I mean three years from now.
Anyway.
Thank you for
reading my comics and special thanks for passing kind words my way, buying comic books or drawings from me, and telling other
people about the site.
I wish you all a wonderful 2010!

the next comic i post will be about thanksgiving. it features wyatt, of the Wyatt's World comic. i reccommend re-reading that comic before reading the thanksgiving comic.
thanks for reading
and caring, if applicable.
